This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to all paid subscription plans offered by Career Cortex LLC ("Career Cortex," "we," "us," or "our") through the Career Cortex web application at www.careercortex.com (the "Platform"). This policy supplements, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Subscription Plans
Career Cortex offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are available on a monthly or annual billing cycle, as described on our pricing page at the time of purchase. Your subscription begins when your payment is successfully processed and renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
2. How to Cancel Your Subscription
You may cancel your subscription at any time by logging in to your account at www.careercortex.com, navigating to your account settings, and selecting the option to cancel your subscription. You will receive an on-screen confirmation and a confirmation email when your cancellation is processed.
No phone calls, emails, or other steps are required. Cancellation is self-service, straightforward, and can be completed at any time without penalty.

3. When Cancellation Takes Effect
3.1 Access After Cancellation
When you cancel your subscription, your cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. This means:
- Monthly subscribers: You retain full access to all paid features until the end of the month you have already paid for.
- Annual subscribers: You retain full access to all paid features until the end of the annual period you have already paid for.
Your account will not be charged again after cancellation. Once your current billing period ends, your account will automatically revert to the free plan (if available) or become inactive.
3.2 What Changes After Your Billing Period Ends
When your paid subscription expires after cancellation:
- You will lose access to premium features that are not included in the free plan
- Any usage limits will revert to free plan levels
- Your account and all your data (resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, mock interview data, and AI analysis results) will remain intact and accessible — cancellation does not delete your data
- You may continue to access your stored data and any free-tier features
4. Refund Policy
4.1 General Policy
All subscription fees are non-refundable. We do not offer partial, prorated, or full refunds for any unused portion of a subscription period, whether on a monthly or annual plan.
Because you retain full access to all paid features for the entirety of your billing period after cancellation, no refund is necessary or provided for the remaining time. You are encouraged to continue using the Services through the end of your paid period.
4.2 Monthly Subscriptions
Monthly subscription fees are charged at the beginning of each monthly billing cycle. If you cancel during a billing cycle, you will not be charged for the next cycle, but no refund will be issued for the current cycle. You retain access through the end of the current month.
4.3 Annual Subscriptions
Annual subscription fees are charged in full at the beginning of the annual billing cycle. If you cancel during an annual billing period, no prorated or partial refund will be issued for the remaining months. You retain full access to paid features through the end of your annual subscription period.
4.4 Exceptions
Refunds may be issued at Career Cortex's sole discretion in the following limited circumstances:
- Billing errors: If you were charged in error (e.g., duplicate charges, charges after a confirmed cancellation, incorrect amount), please contact us at billing@careercortex.com within 14 days of the charge. We will investigate and correct any verified billing errors, including issuing a refund where appropriate.
- Service discontinuation: If Career Cortex permanently discontinues the paid Services, we will provide a prorated refund for the unused portion of your current billing period.
- Legal requirements: Where refunds are required by applicable law (including, for EU consumers, the right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive where applicable). If you are an EU consumer and wish to exercise a right of withdrawal, please contact us within 14 days of your initial purchase. Please note that this right may not apply once you have begun actively using the digital Services.
4.5 Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or payment provider instead of contacting us to resolve a billing concern, we reserve the right to suspend your account pending resolution. We encourage you to contact us directly at billing@careercortex.com before initiating any payment dispute so we can resolve the issue promptly.
5. Free Trials and Promotional Offers
From time to time, Career Cortex may offer free trials or promotional pricing. The following terms apply:
- Free trials provide temporary access to paid features at no charge for a specified period
- At the end of a free trial, your account will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the standard rate unless you cancel before the trial period ends
- We will notify you before your trial ends and before your first charge is processed
- Promotional pricing terms (if any) will be communicated at the time of the offer and may include specific conditions or durations
You may cancel during a free trial at any time without being charged.
6. Downgrading Your Plan
If you wish to switch from a higher-tier paid plan to a lower-tier paid plan (or from annual to monthly billing), you may do so through your account settings. Plan downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. No refund or credit is issued for the difference in plan pricing during the current period.
If you wish to upgrade your plan, the upgrade takes effect immediately and the difference in pricing will be prorated for the remainder of your current billing period.
7. Your Data After Cancellation
7.1 Cancellation (Without Account Deletion)
Cancelling your subscription does not delete your account or your data. After your paid subscription expires:
- Your account remains active on the free plan (if available) or in an inactive state
- All your resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, job tracking data, mock interview sessions, and AI analysis results remain stored in your account
- You can continue to log in and access your stored data
- If you resubscribe in the future, all your data will be available immediately
7.2 Account Deletion
If you wish to permanently delete your data, you must separately request account deletion through your account settings or by contacting us at support@careercortex.com. Account deletion is a separate action from subscription cancellation.
Upon account deletion, all data associated with your account — including all resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, interview data, AI analysis results, and any soft-deleted items — is permanently deleted immediately. This action is irreversible.

8. Reactivating Your Subscription
8.1 Reactivating Before Your Billing Period Ends
If you cancel your subscription and then change your mind before your current billing period expires, you may reactivate your subscription through your account settings. Reactivation before the billing period ends will resume your subscription without interruption, and you will be charged normally at the start of the next billing cycle. No additional charge is incurred for the current period.
8.2 Reactivating After Your Billing Period Ends
If your subscription has already expired, you can resubscribe at any time by selecting a plan through your account settings. Your new subscription begins immediately upon payment, and a new billing cycle starts from that date.
8.3 Reactivating After Account Deletion
If you have deleted your account, your data cannot be recovered. You may create a new account and subscribe, but you will need to re-upload any resumes, cover letters, and other content. Previous AI analysis results, scores, and optimization history will not be available.
9. Changes to Plans and Pricing
We reserve the right to modify our subscription plans and pricing at any time. If we change pricing:
- Existing subscribers will receive at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect
- Price changes apply at the start of your next billing period after the notice period
- If you do not agree with a price change, you may cancel your subscription before the new pricing takes effect
Changes to plan features or available tiers may occur at any time. If we remove a paid feature, we will provide a prorated refund for the unused portion of your current billing period.
10. Relationship to Other Policies
This Refund & Cancellation Policy is part of and supplements our Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between this policy and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail. For questions about how your data is handled, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
